What A Car Garage Needs To Operate

by Zachary August 5, 2022
written by Zachary

The automotive industry is one that’s evolving rapidly. For car garages to stay relevant, they must adapt to the new technological ways of doing things. This article will help you with that!

Essential Information For A Car Garage

A car garage is an essential business for any car owner. It is a place where they can go to get their car serviced or repaired, and it is also a place where they can store their car when they are not using it. There are a few things that a car garage needs to operate, and this article will list them all.

First and foremost, a car garage needs a good location. It should be easy to find and should have plenty of parking. The garage should also be close to other businesses that your customers may need, such as gas stations and restaurants.

Secondly, a car garage needs to have the proper equipment. This includes things like lifts, jacks, and other tools that are necessary for servicing cars. The garage should also have a supply of parts on hand so that they can be replaced if necessary.

Thirdly, a car garage needs to have qualified staff. The staff should be able to answer any questions that customers may have, and they should be able to perform the services that the garage offers. They should also be able to keep the garage clean and organized so that it is presentable to customers.

Fourthly, a car garage needs to advertise its services.

Level of Training Required

In order to operate a car garage, a certain level of training is required. This may include certification from an automotive service excellence program. In addition, many states require that all automotive technicians be licensed. The requirements for licensure vary from state to state, but generally require the completion of an accredited training program and passing of a written exam.

Licensing & Certifications

If you want to open a car garage, you will need to obtain the proper licenses. Depending on your location, this may require a business license, trade license, and/or auto repair license. You will also need to make sure that your facility meets all zoning requirements.

Insurance Requirements

If you’re thinking of starting a car garage, you need to make sure you have the right insurance in place. This will protect you and your business from any potential risks. Here are some of the key insurance requirements for a car garage:

– Public liability insurance: This will cover you if someone is injured or their property is damaged while on your premises.

– Employer’s liability insurance: If you have any employees, this is a legal requirement. It will cover you if they are injured or become ill as a result of their work.

– Product liability insurance: If you sell or repair products, this will cover you in the event that they cause injury or damage.

– Buildings and contents insurance: This will cover your premises and contents in the event of fire, theft or damage.

Basic Tools Needed

If you’re thinking about starting a car garage, there are some basic tools you’ll need in order to get up and running. Here’s a quick rundown of what you’ll need:

– A set of wrenches (including a torque wrench)

– A set of sockets

– A set of pliers

– A set of screwdrivers

– A set of hammers

– A set of chisels

– A set of files

– A set of saws

– A set of drill bits

– A beta roller cabinet

– A ramp

Vehicle Inspection & Safety Equipment

A car garage needs to have a few key things in order to operate efficiently. First, they need a designated area for vehicle inspection. This is where customers can bring their cars to be checked for any issues. Second, they need a work area for repairs. This should be large enough to accommodate multiple vehicles at once. Lastly, they need a parts room where they can store and organise all of the necessary parts and tools.

New Car Deals Advice

by Zachary May 30, 2022
written by Zachary

Buying a new car can be very exciting. But it can also be very stressful. Especially if you have heard about the different car dealer scams that are proliferating all over the place.

To protect yourself from these car dealer scams, you must be aware of the effective car buying advice that can help you get a good deal on any car and avoid being duped by car dealers and agents. This article will provide you with the best new car advice available. So if you or anyone you know is planning to buy a new car, then it probably is no accident that you are reading this article right now.

One of the best pieces of new car buying advice that anyone can give you is to time your visit to the car dealer. The trick is to catch these dealers at a time when they will be more open to negotiations when it comes to giving you a great deal on a car.

What’s the best time to go to car dealerships you may ask. Weekdays are the best. Avoid going to a car dealer on weekends because this is the time when most people will be shopping for a car. When you go on a weekend, first of all, you will not get the proper attention from the dealers. Second, dealers would not mind losing customers like you if, for some reason, you decided to leave because there are other customers that are willing to take your place.

There are other reasons for going on a weekday. This is the time when car showrooms are usually empty which means you will have more room, literally and figuratively, for negotiations.

The end of the month is another good time to go to a car dealer because it is during this period that agents are trying to reach their sales quota and, therefore, will be more open to negotiations. These agents will be at your mercy during these times.

If you will follow this one simple piece of new car buying advice, you can be sure that you will get a good deal on a new car.

10 Things You Need to Know Before Buying an SUV

10 Things You Need to Know Before Buying an SUV

by Zachary April 12, 2022
written by Zachary

SUVs are more popular now than ever, and with good reason. No vehicle gives you the same versatility that an SUV has to offer, and no car provides you with the benefits you can get with an SUV. Essentially, an SUV combines the towing capacity of a pickup truck with the roominess and cargo space of a minivan and the handling and riding luxury of a car. If you are looking to buy an SUV or any other car, you can opt for Buy Here Pay Here Car Dealers to make a satisfactory car deal for yourself. By learning the terms and language that a car salesman is slinging around, you will better understand what each model you look at has to offer.

Full-size, Mid-size, or Compact SUV – What’s the Difference?

When shopping for an SUV, you will find different market segments and sizes. SUVs are typically classified into three other size groups: full-size, mid-size, and compact. Although the vehicles within each group can vary widely, they are all similar except for their size, the number of people that they can haul, and their towing abilities. Moreover, a compact SUV will be much less pricey than a full-size or mid-size. You may also hear the word “crossover” being used about an SUV. This term describes an SUV that is more like a car than a truck.

Car or Truck-Based SUV, Which is Better?

A car-based SUV or crossover SUV, as mentioned above, is an SUV that is a lot like a car. This type of SUV handles more sharply, gets better gas mileage, is quieter, is more comfortable, and has a lot of room in its interior. On the other hand, Truck-based SUVs are heavier, sturdier, can tow more, and have enhanced mobility when off-road.

Pricing – How Much Will You Pay?

When it comes to affordability, compact SUVs offer the most bang for your buck, with some models starting at less than $20K. The base price on a mid-size or full-size SUV can vary widely, with most basic models starting around $25K and going up, up, up to the mid $40Ks. A luxury SUV, by contrast, can run as much as $100K, although some can be had in the lower $30Ks.

Fuel Economy – Getting the Most at the Pump

Another consideration for you as a driver interested in purchasing an SUV is how much fuel economy you will get. This is especially true if you must commute to work or if you like to go on road trips. The compact SUV can usually be found with a four-cylinder or six-cylinder engine, your choice. The mid-size SUV usually has a six-cylinder or eight-cylinder engine, while nearly all full-size models are equipped with a V-8 engine. It is not uncommon for a compact SUV with a four-cylinder engine to get twenty or more miles to the gallon. Full-size SUVs may get anywhere from twelve to twenty miles to the gallon.

Safety Features to Consider

When shopping for an SUV, be sure to consider the safety features available on the SUV that you are considering purchasing. Nowadays, parking sensors, rearview camera equipment, knee airbags, and more are standard fare. Premiums brands that use high-tech electronics to warn of an impending collision and blind-spot intrusion are also excellent features to consider. Crash-test ratings are also an important thing to look at, too. These ratings can help you determine how well the SUV will be able to handle a crash.

Convenience and Luxury Add-ons

From heated seats to iPod interfaces and automatic climate control, there are a ton of different add-ons that you can get to turn your SUV into a luxury vehicle on wheels. Navigation systems, blue-tooth capabilities, and keyless start systems are just a few of the convenient and luxurious offerings that you will find at your local dealership.

Interior Space and Cabin Capacity

Most SUVs are made to carry five passengers or more. A compact SUV generally has legroom in the rear for adults, and most can be adjusted to either extend the space for carrying passengers or to cargo more cargo. Most full-size and some mid-size SUVs have the option to allow for a third-row seat.

Four-Wheel, Two Wheel, or All Wheel Drive?

Choosing a two-wheel, four-wheel, or all-wheel drive SUV is another consideration. A two-wheel drive or 2WD features a system that allows for just the front or rear wheels to provide the vehicle with power. A four-wheel drive or 4WD enable the driver to choose between either four-wheel drive with all four wheels giving control or two wheels of power when driving. An all-wheel-drive or AWD will adjust itself to automatically distribute the needed power to best suit road and driving conditions.

Operating Costs

Keep in mind that the compact SUV is smaller and lighter and has a less complex 4WD system, and therefore, fuel costs and maintenance are typically lower. Larger SUVs mean larger engines and lessened fuel economy. From an insurability standpoint, the more expensive and exotic the SUV, the more it will usually cost you to maintain insurance on the vehicle. A bigger engine does equal a bigger insurance premium.

Best Time to Buy an SUV

While some people say that there is a particular time of the year that is better than other times when it comes to buying an SUV, the truth is that there is no real difference in when you buy. If there is any truth to this old belief at all, current model year SUVs will drop in price when the newest model year is released. There is usually a big push by dealers to clear some of their existing inventory before the end of the calendar year, too, which makes the month of December a historically good time to purchase an SUV at a possible discount.

There you have it – the most important things to know before buying an SUV. Keep these things in mind when you head out shopping for your SUV, and you’re bound to get the best one for your needs!

Rental Cars and Young Drivers

by Zachary February 1, 2021
written by Zachary

You’re twenty-one years old. You’re allowed to buy a pack of cigarettes at the liquor store, and even a nice cold beer at your local bar (if these are your vices). You’re old enough to enlist in the army or volunteer for the Peace Corps—hey, you can even get married legally. But there’s one thing that will be very difficult for you to accomplish if you’re only twenty-one.

You’ll Have a Hard Time Renting a Car

Yes, it seems unfair, but there are reasons to this madness. Younger drivers are statistically more likely to drink and engage in other risky driving behavior, and they’re involved in accidents more often. Car rental companies refuse to rent to younger drivers for two basic reasons—younger drivers increase the company’s liability and insurance costs, and they pose a risk to the company’s fleet.

So it’s understandable that most car rental companies don’t want to do business with younger drivers—but if you’re one of the above-mentioned paragons of responsibility, it’s hardly fair. It doesn’t matter that you’ve played by the rules and have an immaculate driving record; an irresponsible 30-year-old will be able to rent a car easily, while you’re left standing at the rental counter.

Because rental car companies are leery about doing business with drivers under the age of 25, they typically charge a hefty ‘youth’ fee—which often doubles the rental rate. And drivers who are between the ages of 18 and 21 will have a difficult time renting any vehicle.

The states of New York and Michigan are exceptions to the rule; legislation in each state mandates that car rental companies rent to drivers between the ages of 21 and 25. Renting a car in either of these states won’t be an issue for you—unless you’re under the age of 21. Drivers between the ages of 18 and 21 will have a difficult time renting a car from any company, in any state.

The very few companies who will rent to drivers under 21 also charge substantial fees—usually at least $50 a day.

Independent Car Rental Companies

Independent car rental companies will occasionally rent to the chronologically challenged, but these ‘Mom & Pop Shops’ are few and far between. They’re hard to locate, too. Young drivers have to call company after company, trying to find the one out of a hundred that will accept their business. Location can make a difference; it’s easier to find an independent dealership that rents to younger drivers in larger cities.

If you do find a company that will rent to you, they will probably require you to make your reservation with the branch with which you’ll be doing business. Drivers who are under the age of 21 often can’t reserve a vehicle online or through a central reservation center.

When you make your reservation, make sure that you let the company representative know that you are under the age of 21. Even if you’ve read the company’s policy online, you want to deal with potential problems before you’ve arrived at your destination and need to travel! And it helps to know ahead of time that you won’t be able to rent a luxury vehicle. The few independent companies that will rent to under-21’s reserve their oldest vehicles for their youngest customers. To avoid problems later, you should notice and record any dents or bumps on your rental car before you leave the rental company premises.

Younger Drivers

The ban on drivers under the age of 21 may be changing. Fox Rent-a-Car now charges an additional fee of only $14 a day for younger drivers—making the process of renting a car economically feasible.
Still, this is an exception, and the concession is only granted to people who are at least 20 years old. It remains tremendously difficult for drivers who are under 21 years old to rent a vehicle. And again, it’s expensive: the additional fees can be so high that other forms of transportation begin to look good. No one enjoys taking the bus, but when under-age fees are added to the daily rental fee—and then other expenses are added in—the price becomes so prohibitive for the under-21 crowd that it makes sense to consider other options.

There’s another important exception to the ban on renting to drivers under the age of 21. All government personnel and members of the military can rent a car from most rental agencies if they’re traveling on government business. The renter must be at least 18, and is able to rent at a reduced military rate.

Until recently, drivers from the ages of 21 to 25 faced the same kind of restrictions as drivers under 21. Lately the situation has eased up a little for this age group, and drivers between the ages of 21 and 24 are now able to rent from quite a few national car rental companies. Most Advantage, Avis, Budget, Thrifty, Enterprise, Hertz and National locations will rent to drivers under age 25. The driver in this age group will still be required to pay a daily fee, but this is usually cheaper, averaging about $25 a day.

Hertz is currently offering a fee-free rental experience for drivers between the ages of 20 and 24 who include the promo code 144314 when they make their reservations. Be aware that Hertz is one of the more expensive car rental companies, so even without the youth fee, your Hertz rental may be more expensive than with other companies. But if you do want to take advantage of the offer, hurry—it ends on Sept. 30.

And if you’re a member of USAA, an organization for military personnel and their kids, then you’re in luck. USAA has an agreement with Avis that allows members over age 21 to rent a car without paying an additional ‘youth’ surcharge.

Membership in other organizations may not score a youth fee waiver, but they can help save money in other ways. You should take advantage of benefits of AAA membership, and if you’re a Costco member, you’ll automatically save money at Budget Rent-a-Car. Although these memberships may not be able to waive youth fees, the discounts they offer can help offset the additional expense.

If you have a job, you might be able to take advantage of special corporate rates that waive additional fees for younger drivers. And if you’re renting a car for company business, you should be able to take advantage of special deals that your company has with a rental company.

Basic common sense will also help you save money on a car rental. Reserve your car early, and don’t add features that you don’t need. Downsize when at all possible. And again, be sure to inspect your rental car for damage before you leave the lot.

It also pays to spend extra time comparing the rates of a different rental car companies. They’ll vary, and you may be able to save big bucks if you know who you’re dealing with. Breezenet.com offers a great comparison chart, so you can easily compare rates and company policies.

Responsible Driver

If you’re traveling with someone over 25 years old, you can sometimes be written into the contract as an additional driver without the underage fee. You will have to show a driver’s license, which will enable the car rental company to check your driving record. You will also be required to show a credit card in your name, assuring the rental company that you have established credit and are assuming some of the risk that goes along with your rental. It’s a good idea to have a copy of your car insurance policy, too, as proof that you are a responsible driver.

If all else fails, and you’re faced with paying youth fees that raise your daily rental to astronomical rates, consider asking a parent or older friend to co-sign your rental. This will usually provide the car rental company with enough assurance to waive the youth fee.

When you’ve finally cleared all the obstacles and you’re driving away in your car rental, remember to drive carefully and have a wonderful time. And hang on—in no time at all you’ll be older, remembering how great it was to be young.
